a Nightmare on Elm Street 2010

a Promising movie poster.
Sometimes the movie making industry gets stuck and has no more creative forces to deliver a refreshing new movie that would shake our fandom foundations. Unfortunately we have been having the "sometimes" too many times by now, the industry is definitely dying. The remake element is another cliché the industry has been using to poison thousands of movie theaters around the world, yet they have had interesting additions with some of their remakes, like for instance the Batman saga or the neverending list of Asian horror flicks meet uncle sam version; on the other unfortunate hand, they have failed miserably with unnecesary remakes of films that are classics that no one wants to see in any way remade.

I know we all have fresh memories from the Nightmare on Elm Street saga, and we all so heart Robert Englund's Freddy impersonation that we just like to keep it that way. Besides, the original saga did have movie directors and  writters that were into the horror films scene, so that's a plus. I have to say that I for one, did take some serious time to review this remake, so I picked two 80's Freddy fans and added a newcomer for the intended next generation Freddy fans. The results were foreseen...

I'm Freddy  in case you thought I'm a burnt alien.
Is this a gory scene?
The classic sound of Freddy's knives glove.

As soon as the trailer got released I'm sure most of us sort of thought "shit, they'll explain Freddy's origin a la Batman Begins" and that single thought made us want so badly to go to the movie theaters because the legend of Freddy Krueger would live once more.  I sometimes wonder how does the entertainment industry picks their people. what the hell did they have in their minds? oh yeah! I so know what they had in their minds, I can even imagine the conversations they had with Mr. entertainment Chairman: "Guys, today standards command us to make a horror flick with an emo feeling, just like the fag vampires falling in love. The movie has to have troubled kids, pain, a lot of crying and did I mention the emo vibes? How about Freddy's movies? the formula seems perfect, we'll get richer, shoulders to the wheels"

If you want to get scared with a Nightmare on Elm Street, rent the original saga, don't fucking waste your time with this remake, unless you're a fag emo shithead. This movie doesn't scare, this movie gets you bored. The action turns to be extremely predictable, plus the plot is also very predictable. Not even the death scenes are good enough to make you think that the special effects are one of the least good things about this flick. However, I don't blame it on the actors. They do perform a decent job. The problem is caused by the movie producers. period. they don't know a shit about a horror movie. why did they change Freddy's face? now he lookslike a burnt alien! why it has no sex/nudity scenes? why it doesn't have any real gory scene? why was it ever made?

Yeah, they kept this scene!
Tickle, tickle!
Our Emo heroes.
Nice girl, unfortunately she's neither having sex, nor being nude.
Probably you may be thinking I'm being too unfair with this flick but hey! believe me I tried. Does the movie have any good elements? Yes, it does. In fact, the good elements are those that were kept as they were in the original saga, like Freddy's song, his sweater, knives glove, the idea of Freddy having being a child molestor, some scenes that were carbon copied from the original movie and that's pretty much it. Oops! I forgot to mention the movie trailer, it's also really good, unfortunately the movie wasn't.

My father & I (the original 80's Freddy generation) and my brother (the newcomer) had the same opinions so chances are, this movie will be long forgotten.

Here's the movie trailer:
