Princess Peach is a bitch. |
By the end of the 80's, and in the early 90's there was a new breed of videogame that would spawn arcade centers from across the globe. These games caught youngsters attention immediately, as they displayed both animated and real nudity. Such games, I'd like to call them "Arcade Erotica" because, though they were entertaining, their most attractive characteristic was having nude girls, sexual innuendos and even girls masturbating and/or fucking.
Probably today you wouldn't give a dime about an erotic or porn videogame, because the internet comes handy whenever you're feeling a little randy. But, back then accessing erotic/porn material was a forbidden matter for teenagers, and buying a Barely Legal magazine in a store being a teen, required a huge display of personality, as well as trying to rent an erotic/porn film in your local video rental store.
Hence the popularity of arcade erotica videogames. They were nothing but a chance of finding out nude girls through a skilled gameplay.
Today I bring you an extensive list of the most important arcade erotica videogames that date back as a far as 1987. Enjoy!
Pocket Gal
Pocket Gal, AKA Super Pool III. |
It was 1987 when Pocket Gal made its debut. Released by Data East it soon became one of their most succesful releases ever. This game was all about playing pool like a pro. It had four stages and the goal was to win each game to get to see naked gals. The game had a couple of sequels (Pocket Gal II & Pocket Gal Deluxe) but the original remained as the most popular among wanker videogamers.
Puzznic
in 1989 Taito played its part and released Puzznic. The game took the advantage of the popularity of other similar games and became a certain hit.Once you "wiped out" the screen of blocks you'll get your kinky reward.
Asian nude girls and blocks did get along. |
This game was such a hit that it had immediate releases for the home consoles of those days. Of course, it was a censored edition that didn't offer the original nude ladies the arcade edition did.
Match It – Shisen-Sho Joshiryo-Hen
The asian game Shisen-Sho Joshiryo-Hen translated as Match It for the rest of the world was a puzzle game that would reward you with nude girls after you were done with the stage.
Puzzle sluts. |
A funny thing about this game is that once it got its home console and PC editions, all of them were censored, despite knowing that most of the PC games did have erotic content.
Gals Panic
My personal favorite. |
Developed by Kaneko in 1990, this game is actually a variant of the Qix
game (released by Taito in 1981) so all you gotta do is clean the screan to unfold a secret image, of course there are enemies on your way to make the task difficult. However, the game is not about cleaning random spaces in the picture. If you make "cuts" or "clean" in the inside of the gal's silhouette you'll be punished and the secret image will be changed by a random monster picture instead of a horny & willing babe.
The game had several sequels on both arcade and home systems.
Bouncing Balls
Another puzzle game, only this time released by the relatively unknown gaming company Comad in 1991. The game deals with maths and numbers are the key to unravel some nude prices.
Duffy Duck & Marvin the Martian star the game. |
Pipi & Bibis – Whoopee!!
Japanese software company Toaplan released in 1991 their own arcade erotica adventure Pipi & Bibis.Your job is to control an old man that has to put a bomb to destroy building stories and get an aweseome fullscreen nude lady as the award.
Little old perv! |
Gameplay forces you to bomb through four stages before seeing the reward, so for each level you finish, you get 1/4 of the nude lady.
Splash!
Unfold naked gals. |
Gaelco's Splash a Spanish game, lets you play with a brush to unfold some babes. Not very original though.
Playgirls
Arkanoid goes reated R. |
Hot-B released Playgirls in 1992. The game is nothing but the erotic rendition of the classics Arkanoid & Breakout.
Dr. Tomy
Kinky Doctor. |
Dr. Tomy, a 1993 puzzle proudly made in Italy, believe it or not, it is played just like the Nintendo classic Dr. Mario.
Lady Killer
Lady Killer is probably one of the most popular Arcade Erotica games, actually stating this game is a classic, it is a fact.
Developed by Yanyaka and released in 1993 this game is a must for your M.A.M.E. rom collection.
Get'em nude before you drown! |
The game requires you to be quick & smart enough to avoid drowning before you unveil the pixel ladies.
Perestroika Girls
Russian Clone. |
Perestroika Girls (Promat, 1993) is nothing but a Super Qix hack originally released by Taito. Gameplay is the same as the original game, the only difference is the graphics.
Paradise
Pixel ladies are never enough. |
Paradise, developed by Yun Sung in 1993 is nothing but a carbon copy of Super Quix & Gals Panic.
Zero Zone
Tetris gone randy. |
Zero Zone is like an updated edition of the legendary Tetris. All you gotta do is follow the now classic gameplay of forming color patterns to avoid getting choked by blocks. The background gals are colored like that for a reason: They represent the level of difficulty of each level.
Fantasia
Yes, Robocop & Terminator like nude ladies too. |
Fantasia was released in 1994, and is another Super Qix clone. However, the nude ladies graphics are very detailed and there's the chance of a lifetime: you can play with Robocop, Terminator, Michael Jackson,
Indiana Jones, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone!! man!!! you can film The Expendables III with such characters!!!!
Las Vegas Girl (Girl ’94)
More Tetris style. |
Las Vegas Girl, AKA Girl ’94 it's the updated edition of Zero Zone.Blocks have been updated with random pictures, and of course the ladies have also been updated.
Pairs
At last a different game! |
Pairs, as its name suggests it's a cards game where you obviously have make pairs to check the nude ladies.
Rong Rong
Extra sluts. |
Rong Rong yet another puzzle where, you know...
Miss Bingo
Bingo! |
Miss Bingo another "you know what to do game" From this game on, I won't type more about their gameplay cause they're mostly about the same, only changing names & graphics a little.
Double Point
Go hardcore now! |
Double Point is the updated edition of "Miss Bingo" only this time we get to see hardcore pictures and that is always good.
Big Twin
More puzzle, nothing new. |
Big Twin offers a puzzle game (are you fucking kiddin' me? how many arcade erotica games are about the same kind of gameplay?) and nothing more.
Fantasy ’95
Go hardcore now! |
Fantasy ’95 (Hi-max, 1995) explores hardcore territories offering real pictures with horny gals as the reward.
Wiggie Waggie
Promat made a living of hacking games. |
Wiggie Waggie was a 1994 developed by "Promat" a software company that made a living out of hacking videogames and turning them into "apparently" new videogames.
Mad-Donna
Does Madonna know this game exists? |
Mad-Donna Is fortunately a game that offers a fresh gameplay that resembles or pays homage to the original Pac-Man gameplay, it was made by the german software company known as Tunning (nothing to do with cars or musical instruments thou)
Party Time
Another Gals Panic tribute. |
Party Time (released by Mitchell in 1995) is nothing but a Lady Killer clone. Not bad thou.
Domino Block
Arkanoid for the connoisseurs. |
Domino Block is another hacked game, only this time it is hacked straight from the now classic game Arkanoid. It was made in 1996 by the korean gaming company known as Wonwoo.
Excelsior
Excelsior takes us back to the classic shoot'em up gaming genre. Our goal is to get rid of trees that unveil nude babes.
Kinky tree. |
Excelsior was developed by Playmark and named after the erotic magazine of the same name, which invested some benjamins in this game so as to extend their erotic empire.
Miss Bubble II
They killed Bubble Bobble! |
This is one of the games that could eventually kill our most fond childhood memories. How many of you guys have played Bubble Bobble? I believe many of you have, in fact you can now play in your iPad/iPhone. So, Alpha decided to kill our childhood memories in 1996 by hacking Bubble Bobble. Gameplay is the same, of course the characters are slightly different, but the background music is actually ripped off from Taito.
I know there are plenty of games that didn't make my list, and that doesn't mean they suck. In fact, very few from the Arcade Erotica videogames are worth playing and even less games are worth the internet research and ROM download for playing them in your M.A.M.E. Definitely all of these games suffered from the 70's exploitation cinema fever, but they didn't have the same fate. You can't find them in re-releases anywhere, so you have to emulate them for playing them. Also, they're not that entertaining while the exploitation cinema genre is absolutely entertaining and aging like the finest chilean wine.
Videogames & nude girls are a addictive combination. |
Nice Street Fighter II cabinet. |
Overall, the arcade erotica videogames never made it to become classics, their gameplay was almost the same and the technology limitations didn't allow them to display HD graphics pictures or videos. I believe these games were made to help you become a compulsive masturbation machine, and in a way, once you were done with them you would absolutely go into looking forward to collect porn magazines and porn films, another hit and miss that was buried six feet under due to the internet unlimited powers. I have to give credit to the original author of this educational reading, it took me some time translating and adding my own thoughts & ideas about each game.
Grab that gun you blonde pussy! |
"That stick makes me get so wet" |
Once Arcade became a thing of the past, no more arcade erotica games were produced. The hype lasted until 1997 when everyone moved on to playing with home gaming consoles and PC games. However, the genre didn't completely dissapear as the software industry developed (and continues to develop) hundreds of erotic videogames for your PC. In fact, they have even released interactive porn videogames where you have to fuck as much as you can to reach high scores.
Next time I'll return to our roots, covering some interesting exploitation gems.
