The Stepmother

it's a family affair!
Hi there! i'm back to the grindhouse bygone era to review a 1972 flick which strangely, had an Oscar® nomination for the main song played both opening and ending of "The Stepmother" the last film I've watched today.

The movie is about this rich mexican architect Frank Delgado and how his wife Margo starts the whole plot by cheating on him with one of his business contributors. As soon as the movie starts we find this cheating wife, drunk having intercourse with the stoned contributor, we only see her denial for the intercourse thing but in the end she gives in.

Alan coming back from the airport finds the "extra" car parked on his house's garage and immediately finds a male shadow through his bedroom, finding out Margo was somehow cheating on him. As soon as the unfortunate contributor leaves the house Frank gest rid of him by strangulating him with his bare hands. Considering the time (2:00 AM) Frank takes the corpse and buries it on a nearby beach...

After that intro, Frank is seeing having fun with his group of friends, specially with his best friend and co-partner Dick Hill. Later police finds out about the corpse and starts a subtle interrogation process with Frank closest circle.

While watching the movie you start wondering why is it called "The Stepmother" since all you see is the police trying to discover the murderer and meanwhile Frank's thoughts about the murdering and his friends hanging out. Waiting for an hour and some you find out the movie title, cause Frank´s son comes home, and well the obvious issue appears. Frank goes back to Acapulco and the stoned stepmother has intercourse with his stepson, and well that's about it.

The movie itself it's a bit dissapointing, if you check the poster it refers to a single act that happened in the movie, so anyone looking for plenty of sex between the stepmother and his stepson will be completely dissapointed, as I was while following a pretty weak plot that could have been easily settled in the first half of the movie, but of course that would have been the end of the movie so the writer tried harder adding conversations, police looking for clues and Frank getting frustrated because of the murder and his doubts about Margo.

If I had to rate the movie I'd give two of five stars. The story is weak, the title has almost no reason at all and the abusive amount of conversatios makes it a bit boring. I know it's a grindhouse but still I've seen betters.
