Agent 69 Jensen Skorpionens Tegn

Movie poster.
Continuing where the last entry left us, I have to make a correction. On the last entry I stated there was a trilogy of Danish movies, but with more research I found out there were actually three extra films based on the same idea and following the same story and zodiac signs titles, so my bad! but, I will only review the three last films of the story since, I haven't seen the others yet.

The correct order of the movie series would be: Jomfruens Tegn (1973), Tyrens Tegn (1974), Tvillingernes Tegn (1975), Lovens Tegn (1976), Skorpionen Tegn (1977) and Skyttens Tegn (1978) the ones in bold are the ones I own and the ones I will be reviewing. Once I make my way through the other films I promise I will complete the movie series reviews.  The translation for each title would be (in the same order as above) In the Sign of the Virgo, In the Sign of the Taurus, In the Sign of the Gemini, In the Sign of the Scorpio and In the Sign of the Sagittarius.

The storyline for each of the six films is pretty much the same, real sex scenes everywhere but, not quite like a straight porn movie with no plot at all. In the case of In the Sign of the Scorpio, this movie is sort of part 1 of In the Sign of the Sagittarius, and they're both quite an open interpretation of blockbuster spy movies from those days.

As soon as the movie starts our agents waste no time.
Vaginas are their secret weapons!
Hardcore!
This bag is a key element to the plot.
Now, straight to the plot! We do know that European spy spoofs were very big in the 1960's, but by the late 1970's they seemed pretty passe, not to mention pretty unnecessary since the "serious" spy movies like the James Bond film "Moonraker" had pretty much sunk into self-parody. This Danish film though adds a very 70's element into the mix--hardcore pornography! Actually, anyone looking for hardcore sex will probably be disappointed as the graphic sex scenes are few and far between, and are all lacking the traditionally world famous porn "money shot" scene (with the exception of an under the table scene)

It was typical in Europe at the time to insert brief hardcore sequences into even some of the most innocuous films when they were showing in more liberal markets like Scandanavia. The only difference here is the "inserts" actually seem to have filmed at the same time and involve some, but not all, of the same talent. This film is somewhat similar to "Le Porno Killers" or the unedited version of "Thriller-a Cruel Picture" in this respect, but while those are very sleazy films, this is a light-hearted comedy, which makes the hardcore sex scenes especially jarring. On the plus side, however, this is far better than than any of the American porn parodies of the era. It isn't too funny, but at least it isn't painfully un-funny.

Exploitation scene, we never see the girl again.
Art deco at its finest.
This is a real nanny.
The only recognizable actress here is Anna Bergman, the daughter of the famous Swedish director Ingemar, who otherwise mostly appeared in British sex comedies with Mary Millington and Suzy Mandel.

But I'm forgetting something--oh yeah, the plot. Well, it's some nonsense about a secret spy agency run by a guy named "the Scorpion" operating out of health food store. An older female Mata Hari type sends her incredibly dim son in to intercept a delivery in order to take revenge on "the Scorpion" who killed the son's father years earlier, right after they had sex for the first and only time. Really the only interesting thing about this (besides it being the "hardcore" debut of the daughter of an internationally-renowned film director) is that the opening sex scene between the Mata Hari and her lover might be the only hardcore porn sequence in history to lead to an actual conception (within the world of the movie, of course).

Fucking the nanny.
A much welcomed gift.
The guards are real professionals.
Cunni Lingus.
Collaborative Sex.
Doggy Style.
Overall this is probably the best of the Danish porn comedies from the mid 70's at least it is the one with the best production values. These films were fairly unique in that they combined genuine attempts at slapstick comedy with equally genuine hardcore porn. The only other film I know of that goes anywhere near these areas is Britain's Come Play With Me, but the tight integration of these genres witnessed in the Danish pictures, especially this one, is completely unique.

Shit! the control bar messed it up!
This is how you treat a lady son.
This is how the lady thanks you.
Nice sex position!
The money shot.
A real agent gives her life to duty.
This scene leads to success our heroic girls.
While much of the humour falls flat this is more than compensated by a genuine sense of wackiness. The film has enormous curiosity value, and shows lots of apparent enthusiasm and energy.

This film is still available on DVD on a double feature which also includes Agent 69 In the Sign of the Sagittarius. Tomorrow I'll review In the Sign of the Taurus, the last one I watched from this series, which is also still available on DVD on a single feature release, though it's kinda pricy.

See you later with the review for the remaining stories that complete the six pieces zodiac Danish exploitation classic film series.
