It's pizza time! the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, one of the last creativeness efforts from the now defunct action cartoon scene from the 80's got their chance into the big screen and started a trilogy franchise wich spawned from 1990, to 1993.
Today I get to talk about the first, and probably the one and only a non-fan could watch without falling asleep or puking the screen.
First important thing is that we get to see a lot of characters from the original animation, and the origin story of the Turtles and the Shredder are very much like the original concept developed by the TV show. The slight differences we get to see are of course meant to make us "believe" 4 turtles can make their way fighting crime and have some human friends in between. The Shredder is way darker than the one we see in the cartoon and I guess that's a good thing cause he's gotta sweat evil! the Foot clan is also there as it was in the cartoon, April O'neill is also there and Casey Jones, one of the coolest characters there also makes his contribution to the movie.
The story is quite simple, The Shredder and his foot clan is controlling the underwold of New York building an armada of runaway kids to ensure his kingdom continuity. The problem, you got it! the Ninja Turtles and Splinter, their mentor.
So, basically the turtles befriend Casey Jones and April O'neill and go on a journey of discovery from teenage turtles to adult turtles facing their ultimate challenge: save the city from the Shredder.
In the meantime of the story we see how April falls in love with Cacey, and how April's boss nephew gets entangled under the evil ways of the Shredder and Splinter reveals how he became a ninja by imitating his master's moves on its jail (WTF)
Overall it was a good flick, the special efffects are outstanding! the turtles look so real it hurts! the fighting scenes are quite interesting as well. The whole message the movie carries is certainly aimed to younger audiences "do not runaway home, don't get into gangs, don't steal, etc"
Here's the trailer and get ready for an action loaded movie
See you imaginary pals!
