Tonight's review will make our blog a little hornier than usual, but it's for a good reason. Based on Catherine Robbe-Grillet’s classic novel L’Image, this 70's sexploitation flick is thought to be a masterpiece which tops lists as one of the best erotic films ever made. Beautifully photographed, THE IMAGE will titillate and arouse you like no other film you’ve experienced. Recently remastered into the HD format for meeting Blu-Ray quality standard this 91 minutes film is presented uncensored and with an outstanding 5.1 audio track that turns this 1975 story into today's standards but keeping it real as it's been Synapse  Films' concern: to pleasure exploitation lovers.

Directed by the acclaimed Radley Metzger, THE IMAGE (aka The Punishment of Anne/The Mistress and the Slave) is an explicit film that digs deep into the sadomasochistic treesome between Jean (played by Carl Parker), his friend Claire, and young, seductive Anne. When Jean discovers the women’s master/slave relationship he finds himself seduced into their perverse sexual games, and that's basically the whole plot. The film has been always called as an erotic masterpice but, the truth is that is way more explicit than an erotic or softcore film. Here you find oral sex, masturbation, real sex scenes, sexual torture and plenty of treesome action so, I would prefer to call it a "porn art movie" if that is something. 

Anyways, the film is way more than the sex and the nudity, the picture of sex here is somehow related to torture, and a mean-spirited nature that has nothing to do with pleasure at all. That is why I think this film is some sort of study into a sadomasochistic relationship for those who are not into it.

Now that I'm in awe, I recommend it for sexploitation lovers, vintage erotica enthusiasts and those with a thing for B movies that turned into rare classics.

For clear reasons I found no trailers nor video excerpts for this film, though I did find some screen caps showing how explicit the film was.

Probably this is the hottest entry in the whole history of this humble blog, there were some reviews before but never as hotter as this. This film  is both available in DVD and Blu Ray on the Synapse Films official website or at the Amazon store.
