Abigail Clayton was probably one of the greatest 70's porn stars and one of her most interesting roles or more serious approaches into acting in a movie with some plot was 1976's Naked Afternoon. 

The plot line may be a little dated for today's standards but, back in the 70's where exploitation was in the mind of many film makers there were thousands of good looking young actresses trying to get into a movie to become famous. The sad truth was that most of the good looking actresses either ended up naked in most of the exploitation films or went the hardcore way to become porn stars. So, the plot is about Abigail Clayton as a young lass trying to make it in Hollywood but hit in the face with reality. She goes for interviews, gets a femme acting teacher/manager, but everybody wants her to work as a stripper, B-girl hustling drinks, prostitute, or minor player in XXX films, so no glory at all.

However, The XXX movie scene is one she tries and it turns out to be the key plot peg. Though she asks her director for a real part and some good lines, it is just another "hey, sailor" -cue the humping scene assignment. Yet big-time director John Leslie sees her in the film, intuits some star quality and the rest is happy ending time.

Overall the film does have a plot which is based in the reality many young girls had to face during the 70's to become a part of the acting business, so I guess the real sex scenes are somehow relevant to the plot. The director gave some sort of sense to every sex scene, and they are all in the film for a different reason, for instance the opening sex scene is Clayton making love to his boyfriend. Another scene is about Clayton working in a "Oriental Massage Shop" which is nothing but a place for adults to go to for a little sex during rush hours but, Is there where our lead role meets some guy who happens to be in the acting business, and after she's done with him, he offers her the chance for playing a small role, so once again the scenes happen for a reason, not quite like in the average porn films that have no plot at all.

Worth watching? yes, but only for those who don't care about real sex scenes and for those who can see beyond that and find a dark plot that was true story to many in the 70's.

I found several clips from the film, and they were all centered on the sex scenes rather than the plot of the film but, there were a couple of scenes that not only had sex, they also had some of the plot.
